Types of Crushers

Not all crushers do the same job. The type you need depends on your material, your output size, and your application.

Jaw Crushers

A jaw crusher uses two heavy plates — one fixed, one moving — to compress and break material. Rock, concrete, or brick feeds into the top. The moving jaw squeezes it against the fixed jaw until it breaks small enough to fall through the gap at the bottom (the closed side setting).

Jaw crushers are the standard primary crusher for hard rock, concrete recycling, and aggregate production. They handle the biggest feed sizes and produce a coarse output that's typically processed further by a secondary crusher or screen. Browse jaw crushers for sale.

Impact Crushers

An impact crusher throws material against heavy blow bars or anvils at high speed. The impact shatters the material instead of squeezing it. This produces a more cubical, uniform product shape — important for road base and concrete aggregate specs.

Impact crushers are the go-to machine for concrete and asphalt recycling, demolition processing, and producing spec-grade aggregate. They handle rebar-laden concrete better than jaw crushers because the impact action breaks the rebar free. Browse impact crushers for sale.

Cone Crushers

A cone crusher uses a rotating mantle inside a concave bowl to crush material by compression. Feed enters the top, gets squeezed between the mantle and bowl, and exits at the bottom at a controlled size.

Cone crushers excel at secondary and tertiary crushing — taking the output from a jaw crusher and reducing it further. They're standard equipment in quarries and mining operations where precise gradation control matters. Browse cone crushers for sale.

Common Crusher Applications

  • Concrete recycling — crush demolished concrete into reusable aggregate for road base, fill, and new concrete production
  • Rock and aggregate production — reduce quarried stone to spec-grade aggregate for construction
  • Asphalt recycling (RAP) — process reclaimed asphalt pavement for reuse in new asphalt mixes (impact crushers only)
  • Demolition processing — reduce building debris on-site instead of hauling it to a landfill
  • Mining and mineral processing — primary and secondary reduction of ore and overburden

Top Crusher Brands We Carry

Komplet

Compact crushers built for contractors who need portability without sacrificing crushing power. Komplet machines fit on a standard trailer and handle concrete, brick, and soft rock on small to mid-size job sites.

McCloskey International

A major name in crushing and screening. McCloskey jaw and impact crushers are built for high-volume production at quarries, recycling yards, and large demolition sites.

Evortle

Heavy-duty compact crushers that punch above their weight class. The CT535 jaw crusher is one of the heaviest machines in its size class — 14,331 lbs — which means less vibration and more stable crushing under load.

We also carry crushers from Metso, Terex, Sandvik, and other manufacturers. Inventory changes frequently — if you don't see what you need, call us.

How to Choose the Right Crusher

  • Material type — jaw crushers handle hard rock and concrete. Impact crushers handle concrete, asphalt, and softer materials. Cone crushers handle secondary reduction of pre-crushed material
  • Output size needed — jaw crushers produce coarse output (2-6"). Impact crushers produce finer, more uniform output (3/4-3"). Cone crushers produce precisely graded material
  • Portable vs stationary — track-mounted crushers move between job sites. Stationary plants maximize output at a fixed location
  • Throughput — match tons-per-hour capacity to your daily volume. Undersizing creates a bottleneck. Oversizing wastes capital

Complete Your Processing Circuit

Move crushed material to stockpile with a stacking conveyor — radial stackers eliminate the need for a loader. Screen crusher output for gradation control and produce multiple products from a single feed.
