Browse magnetic separators for sale — cross magnets, suspended magnets, and magnetic pulleys from Eriez and other manufacturers. A magnetic separator removes ferrous metals (nails, wire, rebar, bolts) from material streams on conveyors, protecting downstream equipment from metal damage and producing cleaner end products. GrinderCrusherScreen carries used magnetic separators for recycling, grinding, and wood processing operations. Call 770-433-2670 for pricing and availability.
How Magnetic Separators Work
A magnetic separator generates a strong magnetic field that attracts and holds ferrous metals as material passes through. The captured metal is then released into a separate collection area. Common configurations include:
- Cross-belt magnets — mounted above a conveyor at 90 degrees, pulling metal up and across to a separate discharge
- Suspended magnets — hung over the head pulley or along a conveyor, catching metal as material passes underneath
- Magnetic pulleys — replace the head pulley on a conveyor, attracting metal to the belt surface while clean material falls off normally
Where Magnetic Separators Are Used
- After grinding or shredding — remove nails, hinges, and hardware from ground wood, pallets, and C&D debris
- Before chipping — protect chipper knives from metal contamination in the feed stream
- Recycling lines — pull ferrous metals from mixed material for separate recovery
- Aggregate processing — remove rebar fragments and wire from crushed concrete
Brands We Carry
Eriez is the industry standard for industrial magnetic separation. We carry used Eriez cross magnets and other manufacturer models as they become available. Magnetic separator inventory is limited — call for current availability.
What to Check Before You Buy
Check magnetic strength — use a pull test to verify the magnet still holds at rated gap distance. Inspect the belt (on cross-belt models) for wear and tracking. Check the frame mounting and height adjustment mechanism. Verify the magnet width matches your conveyor width for full coverage of the material stream.
