Browse impact crushers for sale from Rubble Master, McCloskey, Metso, Sandvik, KPI, and other manufacturers. An impact crusher uses high-speed blow bars or hammers to shatter material on contact, producing a cubical, uniform product shape ideal for road base and spec aggregate. GrinderCrusherScreen carries new and used impact crushers for concrete recycling, demolition, and aggregate production. Call 770-433-2670 for pricing and availability.

How an Impact Crusher Works

Material enters the crushing chamber and hits a rotor spinning at high speed. The rotor throws the material against heavy blow bars, anvils, or impact plates mounted inside the chamber. The material shatters on impact rather than being squeezed. This produces a more cubical product shape than compression crushers — an important spec for road base, concrete aggregate, and asphalt production.

Impact crushers handle rebar-laden concrete better than jaw crushers because the impact action breaks the rebar free from the concrete. A magnetic separator on the discharge conveyor then removes the freed rebar from the product stream.

Impact Crushers vs. Other Equipment

For hard rock primary crushing where a cubical shape is not required, jaw crushers offer lower wear costs and handle larger feed sizes. For asphalt shingle processing and mixed C&D material, concrete and asphalt shredders provide primary size reduction before the crusher.

What to Check Before You Buy

Inspect the blow bars for remaining thickness and even wear. Check the rotor for cracking and balance — an out-of-balance rotor causes destructive vibration. Inspect the aprons (impact plates) for wear and proper adjustment. Check the crusher frame for stress cracks around bearing housings. Review engine hours and hydraulic system condition.
