Description
Best described as a "Tornado in a Can", the TKV (Tornadic Kinetic Vortex) uses vertical shaft hammers to create a vortex of material crashing into the walls and itself to make tremendous reductions in material size. Using Kinetic Energy to assist reduction, it operate efficiently which saves you in wear parts and down time. This machine will turn MSW to fluff, glass to sand, shingles to powder, and waste to energy.
The following are some examples of materials the TKV can process (preferably 12" minus);
Alfalfa, aluminum, aggregates, auto-shredder fluff, coal, cardboard, compost, concrete, cinder block, dirt, grain, garbage, glass, lime, manure, plastics, pallet material, rock, wastewater "sludge cake", wood, and more.

NEW GCS TKV
NEW GCS TKV — brand new vertical shaft shredder, best described as a “Tornado in a Can.” This unit uses kinetic energy and a vortex system to achieve aggressive material reduction with high efficiency.
Who This Machine Is For
- Waste-to-energy operations — reduces material to consistent feedstock
- Recycling facilities — processes a wide range of materials in one machine
- MSW processors — turns mixed waste into uniform fluff
- Buyers needing versatility — handles multiple material types with one system
What It Processes
- MSW (municipal solid waste) — converts waste into uniform fluff
- Glass — reduces material down to sand-like consistency
- Shingles — breaks material down into fine output
- Concrete & aggregates — reduces hard materials efficiently
- Wood, plastics, and organic material — processes mixed inputs into smaller sizes
This is not a traditional dual-shaft shredder. It uses vertical shaft hammers and kinetic energy to create a vortex that breaks material down through impact.
Specs in Plain Language
This unit is powered by a 200–400HP system with a VFD (variable frequency drive), allowing you to control speed and optimize performance based on the material.
The vertical shaft design creates a vortex where material continuously impacts itself and the chamber walls, increasing reduction efficiency while lowering wear on components.
At 15,000 lbs, this machine is compact compared to many shredders, with dimensions of 9'-4" long, 6'-10" wide, and 10'-7" tall. The 18" x 22" outlet controls discharge size and helps maintain consistent output.
This system is designed to process a wide range of materials (preferably 12" minus), making it one of the more versatile machines in this category. It focuses on reducing material efficiently while minimizing wear parts and downtime.
If you are comparing options, this machine stands out for its unique vortex-based reduction system and multi-material capability. You can also browse similar units on our shredders page or explore equipment that works alongside shredders like trommel screens.
