Browse land clearing mulchers for sale. A land clearing mulcher is a self-propelled, track-mounted forestry machine built to grind standing trees, brush, and stumps in a single pass. These are the heavy-duty machines used on right-of-way projects, utility corridor clearing, site preparation, and large-scale vegetation management. GrinderCrusherScreen carries land clearing mulchers when available. Browse our inventory below or call 770-433-2670 for pricing and availability.
How Land Clearing Mulchers Work
A land clearing mulcher is a dedicated carrier — typically a tracked chassis with 200 to 600+ horsepower — fitted with a front-mounted mulching head. The operator drives directly into standing vegetation. The mulching head spins at high RPM and uses carbide-tipped teeth to shred trees, brush, and stumps into chips and mulch that fall to the ground.
Unlike conventional land clearing with dozers and excavators, forestry mulching leaves the root system and topsoil intact. This reduces erosion, eliminates the need for burn piles, and leaves the site ready for seeding or development faster than grub-and-grade methods.
Common Applications
- Right-of-way clearing — pipeline, power line, and road right-of-way maintenance
- Site preparation — clear wooded lots for commercial and residential development
- Fire break management — create and maintain fire breaks in wildland areas
- Invasive species control — remove dense invasive brush and undergrowth
- Utility corridor maintenance — keep transmission and distribution corridors clear
What to Check Before You Buy
Start with the mulching head. Inspect the teeth, drum or disc, and bearings for wear. Tooth replacement is a regular maintenance item, but a worn drum or damaged bearing housings are expensive repairs.
Check the engine, hydraulic system, and cooling package. Land clearing mulchers run under constant heavy load in dusty, hot conditions. Engine hours, service history, and cooling system condition are critical.
Inspect the undercarriage — tracks, idlers, rollers, sprockets, and final drives. Track components are a significant cost on any tracked machine, so knowing the remaining life matters.
