Peterson Pacific Corp., established in 1981 by Neil Peterson, is a leading manufacturer of wood grinding and chipping machinery. The company began by developing a portable chain flail delimber/debarker to improve chip quality for export markets. This innovation led to the creation of the 4800 delimber-debarker and the DDC 5000, a combined delimber-debarker and chipper, which significantly enhanced in-woods processing efficiency.
In 2007, Peterson Pacific was acquired by Astec Industries, a global manufacturer of equipment for infrastructure development. Despite the acquisition, Peterson continues to operate under its original name, maintaining its commitment to innovation and quality in the wood processing industry.
Among Peterson's most popular machines is the 4710D horizontal grinder. Introduced in 2017, this model is designed for high-volume producers with demanding end-product specifications. It features a three-stage grinding process with an up-turning rotor and large grate area, allowing for precise material production. The 4710D is particularly suited for land clearing operations due to its 18-inch ground clearance and mobility.
Another notable machine is the 6700B horizontal recycler, which uniquely converts raw materials into higher-value end products. This model is part of Peterson's established line of heavy-duty grinders, offering versatility and efficiency for various applications.
