Metso was established on July 1, 1999, through the merger of Valmet, a supplier of paper and board machines, and Rauma, which specialized in fiber technology, rock crushing, and flow control solutions. In 2013, Metso demerged, leading to the formation of two separate entities: Metso Corporation, focusing on mining and construction, and Valmet Corporation, concentrating on pulp, paper, and power.
